..and a bit of pushing and shoving, solves this problem, fortunately.


(It's a bit messy that the newer library doesn't cleanly upgrade over
the old version automatically by itself, though.. For the kind of 
Linux-newbie friends I'm trying to convert to Ubuntu, this would be a 
bit of a show-stopper for them :-( )
