Attention:PETER HOEG
I just visited the Ubuntu website and wanted to create a LoCo team with
the intention of promoting Ubuntu in Tanzania, only to find that someone
has allready registered the team.
I think it would be a good idea if we can work together in this.
Iam Atanas Cosmas Nkelame and has been active in promoting Free and
OpenSource Software for more than 5 years.
I started a FOSS discussion forum called OpenSourceTz back in 2004 and its
membership has been growing since then. I am also a founding member of the
Tanzania Free and OpenSource Software Association (TAFOSSA,
www.tafossa.or.tz).
Currently I am an interim secretary of TAFOSSA, which is being hosted at
the University Computing Centre (www.ucc.co.tz), a company that is owned
by the UNiversity of Dar es Salaam (a very famous University in the
region)
TAFOSSA is promoting FOSS in Tanzania.
I have been using Ubuntu effectively for more than a year and I like it so
much and I have been promoting it at home, in schools etc, mostly through
the word of mouth and by demonstrating it to my friends. IT IS VERY GOOD.
I would like to promote Ubuntu through TAFOSSA and thought it would be a
good idea that whenever a new Ubuntu software is released we have a
function to create some marketing. This will ensure that more and more
people get to know Ubuntu and start using it everywhere: At home, schools,
government, NGOs etc.
Just wanted to know how we can work together.
