Call for testing: Trusty langpack updates (F?ram na G?idhlig)

You don't need any virtual machine to test different desktop environments. I'm not 100% sure whether it still works on 14.04 but with previous Ubuntu versions we were able to install GNOME destop environment from the Software Center. What do You need a GNOME for? Just because, whether You like it or not, along GNOME 2.x and 3.x we get Xfce, Unity and kde. Now all You have to do is to choose a needed environment on the login screen. Your mashine will perhaps become heavier but You get a powerful playground.

Well, 2 Bluescreens of Death and 2 virtual machines later, I could
finally install this on a dead slow VM with 480x600 screen resolution.
And I at least know what a virtual machine is; a normal Joe - if they
have the knowledge to do even this - would have to sacrifice a machine
here for testing, even if they are already using Ubunu or Kubuntu -
because 2 operating systems need to be installed here.

I guess in big language teams yo always have somebody around to do this,
but for small languages this will be a problem.

For me, testing involved quite a lot of fiddling and scrolling as well,
because the screen resolution was so small.

Would it be possible in the future to have some testing automation
against crashes?

To ward against nonsense strings, maybe we could have a repository of
high impact strings to test for those who are unable to install?

I would if I had the necessary editing rights, which I don't. So, could
somebody please list Ubuntu as tested for Scottish Gaelic (gd)? We don't
have a language pack for Kubuntu. Thanks!

Well, irrespective of the size of the language, you need to have Ubuntu
14.04 installed, of course, to be able to test. As regards Kubuntu, it's
not obvious that it's motivated any longer to test that distribution
separately. We'll take it into consideration.

Thanks for adding. I just couldn't find the edit mode, so I assumed it
was a permissions thing.
