New keyboard layout indicator

I notised that after the latest lucid updates, there is a new kayboard
layout indicator. Anyone knows what the package is called or in what
package this functionality has been added? I need it 1) for finding
where to translate it 2) file some bug reports about it, because I
hate the way it work now :( It doesn't display active layout name, and
you have to go though 2 menu levels to switch a layout. Do you share
the same feelings?
