Language pack updates

Hi translators,

I just wanted to give you an update on the status of language packs for
Jaunty and Karmic.

== Jaunty language pack updates ==

We've uploaded a freshly baked set of Jaunty language packs in -proposed
for you to test before they are released.

We'd like teams to test them and provide an indication that they've done
so by following some simple steps and submitting a signoff, so that we
know that translations have been successfully tested.

Simply follow the instructions in this page and add your team's signoff
in the table at the bottom:

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/LanguagePackUpdatesQA

Remember that you'll have to to enable the -proposed repository to get
these updates:

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed

We are setting a timeframe of about two weeks for people to test them
and provide feedback, so remember that language packs will be released
to jaunty-updates only for those teams having added their signoff on the
table by the:

  5th of October

== Karmic language pack schedule ==

As the development cycle is nearing its end and we're ramping up to the
Karmic release, we are going to disable automatic language pack updates
as usual.

The last automatic language pack exports from Launchpad according to our
cron schedule will be generated on the 10th of October at 21:00 UTC. We
will then issue two manual exports from Launchpad: one on the 16th of
October and the final export on the 22nd of October at 21:00 UTC,
coinciding with the NonLanguagePackDeadline and LanguagePackDeadline
milestones:

  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KarmicReleaseSchedule

So please remember to get your last translations ready in Launchpad
before the 22nd of October at 21:00 UTC. All translations submitted
after that date won't make it into the final language packs shipped with
the Karmic release (but they will of course make it into the subsequent
updates).

If you've got any questions, please feel free to ask as usual.

Happy translating!

Regards,
David.
