Just to complement Adi's and Evan's information, please find attached a
list with priority templates you might want to translate first.
This list contains all packages with translations of a default Ubuntu
installation and was obtained by Kyle Nitzsche from the OEM team by
running 'dpkg --get-selections' on a default install to get the list of
packages. Afterwards, Danilo from the Launchpad Translations team
added/removed other packages to adjust them to those in Rosetta. It was
done for another request, but you might find it useful as well.
This should give you a rough idea of what needs to be translated first
and might save you some time browsing templates in Launchpad. Please
note that you'll still have to do some assessment whether some packages
need to be translated (for example gcc is on the list, but I would
personally not give it any priority, since the majority of people won't
use the compiler).
Although Adi already mentioned them, you might also want to translate
the Debian installer [1] and the Ubuntu Docs [2].
And make sure to get in touch with the upstream project's translators to
coordinate the collaboration, especially the GNOME Vietnamese
translation team at http://l10n.gnome.org/teams/vi is very active.
If you need more information, feel free to ask the list. Please tell us
as well if you need assistance in contacting any of the upstream
projects.
Regards,
David.
