Hi there! 

Translations for Ubuntu go on in an online system that is (in theory) easy 
to use. have a look at it on: 

http://launchpad.ubuntu.com/rosetta 

If you have an account at Ubuntu.com you can use it to login. otherwise, 
just set yourself up and account, and experiment with Rosetta for a while. 
then you can start translating directly on the system!
