All Google Talk accounts complain that the connection is untrusted. The certificate details show a CN of "invalid2.invalid" and an OU of "No SNI provided; please fix your client." This completly blocks use of Empathy with Google Talk, as even trying to accept the untrusted connection fails to connect. I traced this down last week and I believe this is caused by making a request using TLS1.3 without specifying the SNI properly. Google has apparently decided not to play along, instead rejecting such clients. This suggests that Empathy is incorrectly using TLS. ** Changed in: empathy (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Telepathy, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1801429 Title: Empathy TLS error To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/1801429/+subscriptions From marc.deslauriers at canonical.com Mon Dec 3 20:08:03 2018 From: marc.deslauriers at canonical.com (Marc Deslauriers) Date: Mon, 03 Dec 2018 20:08:03 -0000 Subject: [Bug 828756] Re: getting "connection is untrusted" warnings References: <20110818133921.7749.65086.malonedeb@soybean.canonical.com> Message-ID: <154386768398.15038.1446868936292996163.malone@soybean.canonical.com> This is an ancient bug and likely no longer applies to recent releases.
