I think I may have filed another bug for the same issue as initially I
hadn't realised that it only seems to occur when the internet connection
is restarted:

Could someone check the status of the telepathy-butterfly process in
system monitor the next time they experience this bug? If it's
"futex_wait_queue_me" then it is the same bug.
