OK, another issue could be the length of time the process is running.
On the top panel add the system monitor and see if you notice as soon as
a processor goes to 100, note what you're doing and use 'top' in the
terminal and tell us how long the computer was on and jot it down here.
Even a screenshot of the top would help.
