I'm using version: 2.32.0.1-1+ppa10.10+1 and have the same problem: I can't hide offline contacts after today's dist-upgrade.
And yes I tried pressing Ctrl-h or using the view menu. I can tick and untick the "Offline contacts" menu entry but nothing changes, every contact I have, no protocol excluded, gets listed.
