Not working for me:

$ apt-cache policy empathy

Edit|Accounts only shows the two irc accounts (same account name; 1 on
freenode and the other on irc.mozilla.org). It does not pick up or offer
to import the two yahoo (scsa.msg.yahoo) accounts that I have in pidgin.

Note: on another machine that was upgraded from karmic to lucid, empathy
does pick up the yahoo accounts. However on that machine I do not have
any irc accounts configured in pidgin.
