Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

When you type (for example) /join #ubuntu in empathy, you get the
message "- Unsupported command". The /join command is very important to
many users, as it's much faster than going to the main "Contact List"
windows, clicking "Room" on the Menu Bar, clicking "Join...", and then
typing in the room name. I believe that this feature should be included
in upcoming versions.
