Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

After upgrading from ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10 all accounts in empathy are
gone. I used empathy also in 9.04 (not pidgin).

But the worst problem is, that I could not manage to recreate the
accounts. I can choose a protocol, type in my settings and nothing
happens when pull connect. After closing the account window and reopen
it, the new account is away again.

thanks,
Mirko
