Sprite transparency problems in Scratch 1.4 when run under compiz

Status in “squeak-vm” package in Ubuntu: New

Bug description:
Binary package hint: squeak-vm

Sprites appear transparent when running Scratch 1.4 with visual effects (compiz) enabled using the currently available version of the VM (1.3.9.8-3ubuntu3). The bug causes the Scratch cat and other sprites to be "see through" ( see attached image ) Note that it's possible to see text on windows underneath the Scratch window through the representations of the icons - but not clearly.

An updated version of the Squeak-vm that includes a fix for this was recently submitted to Debian:
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-squeak-devel/2010-January/000023.html

If this can be updated in time for inclusion with Lucid Lynx, Scratch ( http://scratch.mit.edu/ ) can depend on it rather than bundling its own version of the squeak-vm.
