Looking at the GIT repo:
http://dev.laptop.org/git?p=journal-activity;a=summary
It looks like the latest release also contains this code/bug.
Given that 'whoami' and 'is it my USB key' becomes a lot more
complicated with a multiuser/multiseat is it worth considering
ConsoleKit
(http://people.freedesktop.org/~mccann/doc/ConsoleKit/ConsoleKit.html)
as a possible solution?
ConsoleKit is already in Ubuntu, and I believe it is liked by the Fedora crowd.

Bug description:
Binary package hint: sugar-journal-activity
It appears that there is a hard coded UID for mounting USB flash drives.
In /usr/share/activities/Journal.activity/volumesmanager.py

MOUNT_OPTION_UID = 500

This should use the UID of the actual user on the system who is running Sugar. Note: there may be more than one user active in a multiseat/thin client system.
