Real Machine Macbook Pro 3,1 it does
indeed have EFI. And as you know I have
Ubuntu 14.04 installed and I have been
trying to install Ubuntu Studio 14.04
Thanks for doing this!

Hi,
I did try this, and it did not work.
I also tried upgrading the 12.04 to 14.04 and it also
did not work.
And by 'did not work' I mean qjackctl wouldn't start in
firewire 'mode' at all.
I think you misunderstand somewhat what I am saying here.
Ubuntu Studio 12.04 works with the firewire interface.
Ubuntu Studio 14.04 DOES NOT (at least upgrading from 12.04 to
14.04)
Ubuntu 14.04 DOES NOT
so I am wanting to try Ubuntu 12.04 (NOT studio) to see if I can get
it to work there.
The reason I think this is a bug, is because I expected it to work,
but it did not.
I have done all the normal things to get it to work in 14.04 (adding
myself to the audio group of course, even using realtime in jack and
a lowlatency kernel, installing jack, ffado,etc..).
My thought is that the versions are different (of something
important... like ffado, or jack) and there is some bug that crept
for my specific device.

And sorry for hijacking this thread, as this thread is actually
about Ubiquity freezing during 14.04 install on EFI machines

I do indeed appreciate all your help, thank you again!
