Ubuntu Studio has been quiet -- I THINK -- because the Linux kernel has been developing so fast and the real-time kernel that ships with Studio hasn't kept up.  Ubuntu's standard flavors have a 30 kernel and the RT kernel team is still testing 29, and the rt kernel in the repository isn't perfect. (But when it works it's pretty good.) I compiled one myself and I LOVE it, but that's not for everyone.
