I have however been thrown inough curveballs by Ubuntu to know not to mess with a brand new distro till there are a number of hands out there who have solved and documented solutions to general bugbears, gremlins and weirdness<br>

I've also seem some strangeness with that, but chalked it up to my lack of understanding and, of course, windows funky behavior - sometimes it never works right until you've rebooted a couple times. </p>

<p style="margin: 0px; text-indent: 0px;">However, I had to toss my two cents in on Intrepid... It's my OS of choice right now, upgrading from Debian testing (lenny). Ubuntu has done a really good job of putting this together. I do notice the "Beta" parts of it... Random freezes, don't stress the machine to much... ;) I have yet to get into any serious audio/video applications although this next week will be the test when I go on show site... Also, Im not running an RT kernel, just a custom patched <a href="http://2.6.27." target="_blank">2.6.27.</a> </p>

<p style="margin: 0px; text-indent: 0px;">For the record alot has changed with intrepid... aside from a .27 kernel, there's the new Xorg server 7.4 and xorg core 1.5 - both of these brought in alot of new support. I've been running my ATI radeon on the Open Source drivers, using 3D rendering and compiz with no problems... It's nice to get away from proprietary software when I can... </p>
