AFAIK Yamaha's Studio Manager application uses a proprietary format to
communicate with the mixer through USB (I believe it is high speed
MIDI) and is limited to the Yamaha range of mixers and gear so it's
unlikely to see any free software supporting this. I know a SDK can be
obtained at <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.studioconnections.org/">http://www.studioconnections.org/</a> but it seems not to be
free (as in free speech).<br>
But you can first try to run the win32 version through wine. I just
tested, the host and editor installs and runs fine. I got MIDI messages
output after configuring wine to use ALSA (use winecfg). I don't have a
mixer handy so I can't test if the communication's OK but at least you
should be able to do your preps ;)<br>
Another - probably more reliable - way is to install Windows and Studio
Manager into a virtual machine like the excellent virtualbox
(<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://www.virtualbox.org">http://www.virtualbox.org</a>) and use its virtual USB controllers feature.<br>
