You can import wav files into ardour. I suggest you keep your projects in a
lossless format like wav or flac, or other lossless format, and export from
ardour in a lossless format.. *then*, after the export, and well labeling
everything, convert to whatever lossy formats you want, such as mp3..

formats. i just use sound converter from the default repos..
