qjackctl, aka Jack Control, is not the jack audio system, but a convenient GUI that helps configure and control 
the jack audio system or server, which runs in the background. jackd --version will tell you the jack version.

These ports are sort of  pulseaudio to jack bridges. Pulseaudio is the general purpose audio system in ubuntustudio.
Something is wrong with your system.
What is the output of 
ulimit -r -l
?
