Thanks Ralf but
Neither of those files exist!
On boot it says: Grub v 1.99-21ubuntu3

There is a file boot/grub/grub.cfg
which begins:
#######################
#
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE
#
# It is automatically generated by grub-mkconfig using templates
# from /etc/grub.d and settings from /etc/default/grub
#

### BEGIN /etc/grub.d/00_header ###
if [ -s $prefix/grubenv ]; then
  set have_grubenv=true
  load_env
fi
set default="0"
##################
I tried editing it in gedit to change this default,
but its readonly
and i dont know enough about terminal.

Is there a GUI somewhere to tweak these things?

I seem to remember something called ubuntu-tweak,
but the version on my ubuntu10.04 doesnt seem to do Grub.
?

GRUB2 should be the default and after a default install, Ubuntu Studio
should be the first entry.

Anyway, if you use Grub2 edit /boot/grub/grub.cfg and if you use GRUB
(Legacy) edit /boot/grub/menu.lst.
