It is possible for things to be adjusted such that if you remove a package, the audio metapackage remains installed. This is done by moving all the packages the ubuntustudio-audio metapackage pulls in from being direct dependencies, to recommends. The packages still get installed, due to recommends being installed by default.

Would it be possible for Synaptic to actually say that it is removing a "meta-package" and not the software that the meta-package-list includes? It could avoid confusion, I guess.
