I just built one last night without error. In about an hour or so I
will be rebooting to see if the kernel works. There were no new options
from my previous rt kernel (2.6.29). What version was your previous RT
kernel?

Also a diff of the config files might be helpful:
diff /path/to/original/source/.config /path/to/new/source/.config
