dpkg crashes GNOME on UbuntuStudio 9.04

Another thing to check is to see if you have adequate swap, swap should be
about 1.5 times your maximum possible memory, or whatever you have.. If it's
smaller (if that is even possible) you could get all sorts of problems. Also
make sure your system partition is big enough, the tmp folder is with it,
and if you run out of disk space, you will get errors. I have my root and
home partitions separate, that's why I mentioned if your system is too
small.
