Sounds good.  I'll be glad to remove vlc, and use the ubuntustudio 
recommended way to create webcam video files to add titles I create in 
ubuntustudio's recommended inkscape application.  That would allow me to 
ask specific questions about ubuntustudio.  But, I don't know what app I 
should use.  Any suggestions appreciated.

I tried ffmpeg command, but the ubuntustudio terminal does not respond 
when I hit the q key to stop recording.
