I have a serious hate on for HP/Compaq laptops. My last laptop was a
Compaq, the built in WiFi needed the ndiswrapper to run (this is a bad
idea, period). Worse when I bought a different WiFi adaptor that is
supported by Linux the BIOS apparently had a white list that limited
what cards I could put into it. The bios needed about a year before the
updates stabilized the machine enough to be useful. I have never had
such a bad experience with a computer as I have with the last two
HP/Compaqs.

I know a lot of Linux users who swear by their Thinkpads.
