It could also be not enough disk space. Check to make sure that you
have not run out of space, use the df command (eg. "df -h" for a human
readable output) to see your disk usage stats.
For tracking down disk usage I have the following in my ~/.bashrc
alias dus="du -Pscmx * | sort -g"
- From the command prompt I simply type "dus" without the quotes to see
the largest offenders sorted and displayed in megabytes with a total at
the end. Filelight is an excellent GUI app to do the same thing. If
you are out of disk space you won't be able to install it though.
Let us know what the problem is and whatever solution works for you, for
the archives :)
