Please don't top-post. Conversation is much easier to follow when things are in
chronological order.
I suspect you have proprietary drivers in use. Can you tell us more about your
hardware? If you don't know, can you please do:
# aptitude install lshw
# lshw
...and then use a pastebin service (for example http://pastebin.org) and post a
link to your entry, so we can take a look at what you are using. Also we're
interested in:
$ lsmod
...and:
$ lspci
outputs.
Or maybe I'm generalizing. Those are what _I'm_ interested in. :)
