Playback is no problem for these devices.  The newer Atom based devices
do various video codecs really well, especially the MPEG4 stuff.  On the
audio side they seem to handle whatever I throw at them.  The onbaord
cards are decent enough for most situations, even for input (though I
prefer external USB devices for that).

I never did get around to messing with ecasound, but it seems well
suited for the limited displays these things have.

It should also be noted that my caveats in no way diminish my love of
these little guys.  I use both of them nearly every day for a variety of
tasks.  Basically I use them for everything except VMware and heavy
media manipulation/production.
