Help on sound card choise (Vladimir Jagodic)

Hello,

I would recommend an RME Multiface with either a PCMCIA or ExpressCard
host card.
I'm using it live recording 18 (8 analog line level + 8 ADAT + 2 S/PDIF)
tracks at once without a glitch plus it's a nice extension to digital
consoles.
I also use a Digiface with the same host cards (I have a PCI version in
my desktop and a PCMCIA in my laptop) with 3 Octamic II for full 26
tracks (24 Mic inputs + 2 S/PDIF) live recordings.

The only addition you'll have to get to have these working in
UbuntuStudio is the not-included alsa-firmwares package which contains
the non-free firmware needed for the external interface to work.
I may share the one I make for myself on my professional website at the
beginning of next year.
