No MIDI playback

Hi, Joe,
you can try this:
http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Feisty#How_to_install_MIDI_sound_server_.28Timidity.2B.2B.29
if you want to use midi through timidity.
If you take all the steps described in the article, you should have
timidity visible in Jack Control in midi tab. Then you just connect
desired application to it.
It's not available by default, because, as I was told on Ubuntu Studio
developers list:

"It's non-trivial to detect whether the sound card currently in use has
working MIDI support, and then configure timidity correctly. Then, there
is the issue that timidity uses a large amount of CPU time to process
the sounds. Finally, one might use a USB MIDI device, which may not have
been detected or installed at install time, so auto-configuration would
be wasting power on timidity."
