Ubuntu-Studio-users Digest, Vol 3, Issue 7

I was having exactly the same problem (I posted it here a few days
ago, maybe I'm the one you're talking about with the 64 bit machine).
I also found a link to a bug report here:

I can't fully understand it, but maybe you can make a much better use out of it.

Anyways, I didn't really solved it, but I found an old CD drive in my
house this morning, connected it to my mahcine and installed from
there (wich worked just fine), so I'm guessing the problem was with my
DVD drive.
But I don't really know what was going on...
Another alternative posted on this mailing list was to install Ubuntu
7 and installing Ubuntu Studio from there...
