java install bug? - disregard

I got the problem fixed somehow. Everything (java and flash) is now 
installed and working. It took a reboot and running an apt command (that 
the system told me to run) after rebooting and trying to run synaptic. I 
did this before, but it didn't work. I don't know why it worked this 
time, but I'm glad to have the problem solved. Thanks.
