Oops! I hadn't read this and I hope I didn't offend anyone. I'm Brazilian, as a matter of fact.
And, about Cory's "getting back to the topic", I like very much a Brazilian singer called Monica Salmaso and for a song writer I'd take Chico Buarque (also Brazilian), but I'm afraid you ought to understand quite a bit of portuguese to appreciate his songs.
