how challenging would it be to take the current ubuntustudio-desktop metapackge and rename it to ubuntustudio-desktop-gnome, and just leave it in place as long as gnome2 is around. leave it basically as-is too, so no one needs to maintain it. this might be a nice compromise. someone could install ubuntu vanilla, sudo apt-get install ubuntustudio-desktop-gnome, and have the same thing we have now. if its a matter of testing, i could totally take that on each release. <br clear="all">
