A confirmation email will be sent to you, so a second step is to
confirm by following the posted link.

If you should be annoyed by posts of a subscriber or of subscribers or
by a topic, just use a filter, either by your MUA or by the web
interface of your provider.

If you want to stay subscribed, but just disable mail delivery, one way
is to send an email without a subject and the content

set authenticate your_password
set delivery off
