Hi Charlie,
The daily ISO right now, due to a number of issues going on, is not
ready for testing yet. So, be patient. We're only a month since the last
release and there's a few changes that need to happen beforehand. Don't
file a bug report just yet, since that'll probably get sorted out in due
time.

answer to your other question. That's the official release announcement
for 18.10 and outlines why we dropped moving forward with other DEs, and
how we plan to allow other flavors to add Ubuntu Studio's infrastructure.
