Hi,
As i am looking for jobs, i had to read up on those things called
"Agile" and "Scrum". I'm not sure it is something we need, in fact many
of its aspects seem already present in how we operate, except we do it
more chill with a different terminology.
But as i read about it, i came across what is called "Daily Scrum", a
sort of... daily blitz-meeting where:
"Each team member summarizes what he/she did the previous day, what
he/she will do today, and what impediments he/she faces."
Many of the activities we do are difficult to keep track of: such as
advocacy, documentation, promotion, etc... But even launchpad things can
go unoticed by those who do not fiddle too much with it, and therefor
many details on our day-to-day activity tends to pop-up here and there
in other topics, unfortunately often when there is a disagreement.
Because it is good to know what each one does, and because motivation is
contagious, i would like to try something with you guys. Instead of a
"Daily Scrum" let's call this a "Seasonal Mailing-list Get together" It
is by no means intended to make each and everyone solemnly commit to
future contributions, promise gold and unicorn rainbows, nor will it
serve to blame those who have nothing to write. My hope is that it will
help us get to know each other better, become aware of our fellow
team-members activity beyond launchpad and hopefully help solidify our team.
At your own pace, in your own form, answer these questions in a reply to
this email on the list:
- What have you done the past 3 months?
- What will you do next 3 months?
- What impediments are you facing?
You may include things such as that install party with your cousin and
her cat, that upstream developer you contacted to ask for a debian
packaging, that typo you fixed in the wiki, that USB-key you sent to
space with a homebuilt rocket or that global corporation you turned to
FLOSS ;) (of course preferably things that actually happened or are in
the planning, and what impediments you are facing)
Yours, looking forward to read you,
Set
PS. i'll write mine as soon as i have finished remembering what i did
these past months :p
