Writing a script that disables and enables phone home using sed and
that is provided by an Ubuntu Studio package might be something to
consider.

$ grep ardour ~/.config/ardour4/config /etc/ardour4/config
/home/rocketmouse/.config/ardour4/config:    <Option
name="osx-pingback-url"
value="http://community.ardour.org/pingback/osx/"/> /home/rocketmouse/.config/ardour4/config:
<Option name="linux-pingback-url"
value="http://community.ardour.org/pingback/linux/"/> /home/rocketmouse/.config/ardour4/config:
<Option name="tutorial-manual-url"
value="http://ardour.org/flossmanual"/> /home/rocketmouse/.config/ardour4/config:
<Option name="reference-manual-url"
value="http://manual.ardour.org/"/> /home/rocketmouse/.config/ardour4/config:
<Option name="updates-url"
value="http://ardour.org/whatsnew.html"/> /home/rocketmouse/.config/ardour4/config:
<Option name="donate-url" value="http://ardour.org/donate"/>
grep: /etc/ardour4/config: No such file or directory

I prefer to build Ardour 4 myself with --no-phone-home.
