I know this email is old, but after some of the other talk, I have reached
an opinion. It is possible to get audio to behave on any desktop
environment. It is easy to do a good job of it on xfce or lxde... now
lxqt. Of the two, xfce is the most finished. If I want to show someone
Studio, xfce looks professional. lx* is not bad, but if I was looking for
something to use in a production environment where I had clients looking
over my shoulder...

So far this has not been true. I have successfully installed all our metas
on all flavours... well maybe not Unity (actually I think I did, but
disliked it so much, I gave up), Unity is a beautiful experience and
entertaining, but does not make "work" as easy for me.
