Unless there are serious bugs, 14.04 will stick with the versions of
software it was released with.
Amsynth and ams have already been updated in Debian, and synced to the
development version of Ubuntu (Wily).
You could always try requesting a backport, and trying to backport
yourself, or asking here if someone was willing to take care of it (with
a link to the bug):
