Hi Mike,
it's a proprietary DAW, somebody on LAU posted the link. If it's not
okay to recommend to get in contact with Ubuntu Studio devel, I'm sorry.
I don't know if this is good or bad software and I don't know anything
about the policy/philosophy of those folks.
They developed for "Ubuntu 12" and I experienced:
spinymouse at q:~$ Tracktion
Illegal instruction (core dumped)
spinymouse at q:~$ uname -a
Linux q 3.6.5-rt14 #1 SMP PREEMPT RT Fri Nov 2 21:36:37 CET 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
spinymouse at q:~$ cat /etc/issue
Ubuntu 12.10 \n \l
spinymouse at precise:~$ Tracktion
Illegal instruction (core dumped)
spinymouse at precise:~$ cat /etc/issue
Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS \n \l
spinymouse at precise:~$ uname -a
Linux precise 3.0.30 #1 SMP PREEMPT Sun May 6 22:44:54 CEST 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
My 12.10 install still is maintained, but I've "frozen" my 10.04 install.
As I've written, my experiences using Ubuntu Studio are good, sure,
sometimes there were some issues and sometimes I had to use another
*buntu installer and then to install the Ubuntu Studio meta packages.
I'm not that much interested in this software myself, but I like that
important hardware companies,
http://www.mackie.com/products/tracktion/tracktion.html
http://www.behringer.com/news/behringer-bundles-up-with-tracktion-4/
take care of this software. Linux needs more supported hardware!
2 Cents,
Ralf
I prefer software that s available for at least all major distros, but
if they want to develop their software to run on Ubuntu only, they IMO
shouldn't take care about the Ubuntu default, but Ubuntu Studio.
