If the installer should provide those DEs, than IMO remarks should be
added. Xfce and likely KDE are ok, but people should be aware about pros
and cons of GNOME 3 and Unity and especially about the cons of forks
such as Cinnamon.

IMO a serious alternate DE for a production environment is LXDE.
