Inkscape "How To" Tutorial

Ona related topic, Ubuntu USED to ship with a tutorial showing how to create glowing "Ubuntu" text in Gimp.  That tutorial was, in fact, my introduction to Gimp.  I haven't seen it in the past few versions.  Perhaps it's time for another tutorial?
