Software dictates component choices even in proprietary editing softeware

The BIOS version is needed too, if known board revisions instead of chip
sets only.

A description what does work and what not would be important, but should
be marked as subjective.

I would recommend that we open a Wiki at
http://wiki.linuxaudio.org/wiki/start and add a link on the Ubuntu
Studio site.

At the moment I don't have time to do this.

There should be one site for video and audio and IMO linuxaudio.org is
the best choice.
