Yes, and I wouldn't run skype in the background while recording
either(actually I don't use skype). I was trying to figure out what app
actually uses audio input that expects pulse to be around... that was the
best I could come up with. Really, audio input is not a well used
function. Phone and recording are about it. That is probably why pulse's
bad behavior in this area has not really been noticed. Pulse should not
change levels without being told to anyway. Pulse should not add gain
before removing attenuation. When pulse goes to line mode, all mic boost
should be removed... just for consistency.
A computer is supposed to be multi-use. Why carry two boxes when one will
do both jobs well or at least can do both jobs well. It would be nice to
have something that turns off excess applets when the record button is
pressed or as a command to run before running a recording app.
