Common settings app for Ubuntu Studio

What about something that sets a decent memlock setting based on the
result of 'cat /proc/meminfo' ?
As for a text editor to edit certain variables,
"gedit /etc/security/limit.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/fstab" ..etc etc :D
