Hello and thank you for the recommendations. I aligned with what will be done in debian in the future.
I'm actually confident that this package will not pass the new queue in before the freeze, so I'd rather have this one sponsored. 
I made the changes you mentioned, pushed on the MP, and also reuploaded on the same PPA than before.
